Holly Springs is part of the Raleigh-Durham area, which is also frequently referred to as the Research Triangle Region—which gets its name from the Research Triangle Park—noted as one of the most successful business parks in the world. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 24,661, over 21/2 times its population in 2000. Holly Springs is about 25 minutes (with no traffic) from Research Triangle Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, respectively. The town is about two hours to Charlotte if you want to catch an NBA (Charlotte Hornets) or NFL (Carolina Panthers) game. Holly Springs is three hours from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and two hours from several of North Carolina’s beautiful beaches. The town's name refers to the free flowing springs that emerge into a stream and small lake surrounded by large mature holly trees. Holly Springs is rapidly emerging as one of the best places to raise kids.
