Meadowmont is a planned community located on the eastern side of Chapel Hill. It was built in 1999 on land that used to be part of the Barbee family plantation in the 19th century.

The original estate, which covered 1,250 acres, was sold to David St. Pierre DuBose and Valinda Hill DuBose in 1931.They built their home on the property in 1933 and named it Meadowmont.
