Southern Part of Heaven

Chapel Hill, Durham, and the state capital, Raleigh, make up the corners of the North Carolina Triangle which is home to the Research Triangle Park. Chapel Hill is also the 15th largest municipality in North Carolina and is a part of three counties - Orange, Durham and Chattam. Chapel Hill is best known for being home to the University of North Carolina…the first public university in the United States and the only one to award degrees during the 18th century. UNC Chapel Hill also lays claim to the oldest collegiate athletic team in the Carolinas. Chapel Hill is about 30 minutes (with no traffic) from Research Triangle Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, respectively. The town has beautiful scenery which resembles a mountainous feel in addition to being roughly 2.5 to 3 hours East of the Appalachians Mountains. Chapel Hill is about two hours to Charlotte if you want to catch an NBA (Charlotte Hornets) or NFL (Carolina Panthers) game. A trip to the coast from Chapel Hill to several of North Carolina’s beautiful beaches can be a similar drive as it is to the mountains.
