Who is MorningStar Homes?
MorningStar Homes (legally Morningstar Homes, Inc.) is a North Carolina custom home builder working in greater Raleigh and Chatham County. John Lile is the president and CEO. The BBB profile dates the company to 2005 and lists an Apex mailing address; licensing records and older company profiles use Raleigh.
Two points of confusion come up in search. First, this company has nothing to do with Morningstar Homes Ltd., a builder in British Columbia. Second, the old domain, morningstarhomesinc.com, did not respond when we checked in October 2026. The company is still building, though: BuildZoom permit data show one project in 2025 and three in 2024, and Duke Energy's January 2025 participating-builder list includes Morningstar Homes Inc.
MorningStar Homes license and company record
| Item | Record |
|---|---|
| Legal name | Morningstar Homes, Inc. |
| President and CEO | John Lile |
| Company license | L.61224, Building classification |
| Company license status | Inactive/cancelled; expired June 16, 2026 |
| Individual qualifier | John Michael Lile, active qualifier record Q.21072 |
This is the most important fact on the page. The corporation's own license (per BuildZoom) is inactive, while John Lile personally holds an active qualifier record. A qualifier record alone does not license a company to contract. Before you sign anything, confirm on the license record and with the state board which licensed entity will be the contractor on your build.
