Who is Abode Design-Build?
Abode Design-Build is a boutique Raleigh home builder and real-estate developer. Its owner and managing partner is Walter Duffy Heath IV, who is also the license qualifier for the company (Abode About page). The work is concentrated inside the City of Oaks: urban infill, single-family homes, brownstones and townhome lots.
The company's own site now presents the operating group as Abode Contracting and City of Oaks Development. The legal name on the contractor license is still Abode Design-Build LLC. If you are searching for "Abode Contracting Raleigh," you are looking at the same group.

You can confirm the record yourself on the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors search. A limited license caps the value of a single project, so ask which license will sit on your contract. BuildZoom also lists a separate related license for Abode Contracting LLC; confirm which entity signs.
Where Abode Design-Build has built
Every Abode project we found is in Raleigh. Public records and the builder's own pages tie it to three developments:
- Oakwood Park, Raleigh. Abode's current page describes 4- and 5-bedroom single-family homes and 3- and 4-bedroom luxury brownstones, with construction starting in early 2026 (Oakwood Park page).
- Townes at Trawick, Raleigh. City of Raleigh approval documents show Abode Design-Build LLC's plan for 41 townhome lots on Trawick Road (City of Raleigh approval).
- Greens at Farris, Raleigh. Abode's development pages name it, and Raleigh permit records show Abode work on Farris Court through 2024 (Raleigh permit records).
Permit data also shows 12 Abode projects recorded in 2025. This is an active Raleigh builder, not a dormant name.

Finding Abode Design-Build online
Abode has a working website at abodedb.com. We found no Facebook or Instagram page we could tie to the company. For an outside record, use the BuildZoom contractor profile and the Raleigh permit history. We found no public review profile with a rating.
Questions to ask before you hire Abode Design-Build
- Which entity signs the contract: Abode Design-Build LLC or Abode Contracting LLC, and under which license?
- Is the home on a lot Abode controls, or will it build on yours?
- For a brownstone or townhome, what HOA documents and maintenance obligations come with it?
- Which recent Raleigh addresses can you drive by and whose owners can you call?
